1: Say no to the alcohol.
Alcoholic beverages are terrible for you. As we continue to preach throughout Beer belly, Beer can be fattening as can other alcoholic drinks. Alcohol also causes hunger after a number of drinks so the results of drinking alcohol could be the added calories through the alcohol and the food you may eat after drinking. If possible please try avoiding any alcohol and if you want a drink, drinking in moderation.
2: White meat instead of red meat.
This is a huge diet method in Mediterranean countries. Researchers at the National Institute of Health. As a comparison between red meat and white meat eaters those men who ate the least red meat, those who ate the most red meat were 22% more likely to die of cancer, 27% more likely to die of heart disease and 30% more likely to die period. These statistics are mostly health related as opposed to weight loss related however it is known that eating white meat as opposed to red meat is much better for you when trying to lose weight. Adopting this change in your diet will help you lose weight.
3: Limit your sugar intake:
Sugar is a huge problem when trying to lose weight. Limiting your sugar intake will help you with weight loss. Where possible try cut the sugar intake significantly.
4: Cut down on the salt:
Like sugar, salt is not good for weight loss. Salt is everywhere. Microwave meals and processed food is extremely high in salt. Too much salt is one of the main causes of obesity. Substituting those processed meals for fresh vegetables, salmon and new potatoes will reduce your salt intake dramatically.
5: Add exercise to your daily routine:
Exercise doesn’t need to be a chore or doesn’t need to be time consuming. Adding exercise to a daily routine is probably one of the best pieces of advice I could give you. Almost all of us either work or study and to do this need to reach either our place of work or school/college. Why not incorporate exercise into the routine of getting to work? Part of my exercise routine is to walk to work when possible. The journey is 2.5 miles and takes approximately 35-40 minutes. Not only is this a great start to the day, but it also forms a main part of the exercise routine. If you are travelling to work , attempt to walk/bike/run where possible. Adding this to the daily routine will help lose the excess work quickly and make you feel great for the day ahead.
Losing weight and shifting the beer belly can be tough. No one is denying that it will take hard work, dedication and a desire to lose the weight. There is no quick fix however there are techniques which can help lose weight quickly if applied properly with a healthy diet and a maintained level of exercise. hmm, that article tells me a lot! I’m male, always been thin, I’m now 43 and am fast getting a beer belly even though the rest of me is skinny..so I looked at your list and:
What I currently do a lot of:
1) Drink alcohol
2) Eat Red Meat
3) Love Sugar
4) Love Salt
5) Don’t exercise.
Oh Oh…that’s a coincidence now that I look at your list…! So now I look like a pregnant woman from a side profile. It’s depressing – and I only weigh 150lbs so I’m like a skinny guy going around with a sack of potatoes under his jumper!!
